Fever’s maiden premiership was judged as the best team performance for the voting period. It also means Fever become the first netball team to win the category since it began in 1983.
Coach Dan Ryan said it was a huge honour for the team to win the award.
“2022 was an incredible year for our netball club, a historic year in which we won our first ever premiership in 25 years,” Ryan said.
“It was the stuff of dreams to play in front of a home crowd at RAC Arena and was a moment in history that we will never ever forget.
“It’s a huge honour to win this award so thank you very much to SportWest for supporting us in this category. 2022 was a fantastic year, we will never forget it it and we cannot wait for 2023 to see what we can achieve.”
Captain Courtney Bruce congratulated the other finalists, the Perth Scorchers and Perth Wheelcats Women teams.
“We’d also like to thank the Green Army and the Netball WA community for getting behind us,” Bruce said.
