Mother’s Day is always a special time of year and it’s no different for our West Coast Fever players, who will be celebrating with their mums in a range of ways today.
The players took time this week to reflect on what makes their mums so special, some of the best (and worst) presents they’ve given them over the years, and how they’ll be spending time together this Mother’s Day.
Jess Anstiss
Mum’s name: Bev
What makes her special: My number one support, always caring and worrying about everyone else before herself.
Best (or worst) present I've ever given her on Mother's Day: Dust pan and brush (brother’s idea).
How we plan to spend this Mother's Day: Have a brunch BBQ cook up in the morning and head to Grandmas in the arvo.
Sunday Aryang
Mum’s name: Ariet
What makes her special: My mother is the most courageous and selfless women in my life.
Best (or worst) present I've ever given her on Mother's Day: All my presents are good presents!
How we plan to spend this Mother's Day: Mums working Mother’s Day, so I’ll join her for her lunch break.
Courtney Bruce
Mum’s name: Eileen (loves the song C'mon Eileen)
What makes her special: Caring and kind to everyone and anyone she meets. Makes everyone feel welcome.
Best (or worst) present I've ever given her on Mother's Day: Me! Either way best or worst.
How we plan to spend this Mother's Day: Going out for family dinner.
Emma Cosh
Mum’s name: Kerry
What makes her special: Her love, selflessness, generosity and humility make her so special.
Best (or worst) present I've ever given her on Mother's Day: The worst present is most likely something I made at school when I was younger and had no money.
How we plan to spend this Mother's Day: With the family.
Verity Charles
Mum's name: Carol
What makes her special: She has given so much of her time and money for me to have opportunities in netball growing up. It wasn’t easy being from the country. Mum drove me 10 hours down and 10 hours home to get to netball training. Something I’ll forever be grateful for.
Best (or worst) present I've ever given her on Mother's Day: I think as I kid, I would make things for mum. I wasn’t the most skilled in this area so I’m sure the presents weren’t amazing. I also would always buy mum chocolates so she could share them with us. Sorry mum!
How we plan to spend this Mother's Day: I’ll train in the morning and then have the day to spend hanging out with mum.
Jhaniele Fowler
Mum's name: Dorothy
What makes her special: The love and admiration that she has for her children.
Best or worst present you've ever given her on Mother's Day: The best gift I've ever given my mom is making her proud.
How we plan to spend this Mother's Day: I plan to video call her and chat for a while.
Stacey Francis-Bayman
Mum's name: Sharon
What makes her special: She is special because of how selfless and generous she is. Having had me so young and choosing to travel around England supporting my dad's career (as a professional footballer) and making a home for us wherever we went. She takes the greatest pride in putting her family first and doing what needs to be done to ensure that we are all thriving.
Sasha Glasgow
Mum's name: Tess
What makes her special: Her attention to detail with me and my four siblings. Her intuition to know when we are going well or sometimes need some extra support.
Best (or worst) present I've ever given her on Mother's Day: Tickets to Adele for my Year 12 graduation.
How we plan to spend this Mother's Day: FaceTime my Mum as she’s back in Adelaide and see her open the gift my sister, my brother and I got for her.
Liv Lewis
Mum's name: Sandra
What makes her special: Super mum of 5 kids.
Best (or worst) present I've ever given her on Mother's Day: Anything homemade from school would’ve been pretty bad - I wasn’t very artsy.
How we plan to spend this Mother's Day: Family dinner at parent’s house.
Alice Teague-Neeld
Mum's name: Sarah
What makes her special: The most caring, loving and selfless person. She would do anything for me and my sisters! Whenever she has the chance, she always comes to Perth to visit!
Best (or worst) present I've ever given her on Mother's Day: Skydiving
How we plan to spend this Mother's Day: I won’t be seeing her as she lives in Melbourne so there will be lots of FaceTime!
