The 13-week campaign has been packed with intense games across the country including Port Hedland, Ballarat and Sydney.
Their match up with the Giants in Ballarat was fierce, with Fever going down by five goals in a close game.
The Team Girls Cup tournament in Sydney was a good chance for Fever’s new line-up to test out some of their combinations before the season begins. The girls in green put in a great effort across the weekend, coming home with a win against the Swifts, a draw against the Mavericks and a loss against the Firebirds and Lightning.
Head to Head
Fever’s new look, including athletes both new to the team and SSN, will mean the Giants won’t be overly experienced with the matchups heading their way.
Will the Giants defensive end with Tilly McDonell, Erin O’Brien and Jodi-Ann Ward be able to keep the unstoppable Jhaniele Fowler-Nembhard at bay? Especially now that she’s joined by SSN newcomers Olivia Wilkinson and Shanice Beckford.
How will our mid-court gun Kelsey Browne hold off Giants co-captain Jamie-Lee Price?
Our defensive end of Sunday Aryang, Fran Williams and Kadie-Ann Dehaney will be out to stop the Giants Shooters Sophie Dwyer, Jo Harten and Matisse Letherbarrow, who all possess the ability to shoot from two-point range.
A word from the Court
Fever Vice Captain Alice Teague-Neeld said the squad has spent the pre-season gelling together and this first round is all about demonstrating that work.
“We were lucky enough to play the Giants in the pre-season, so we know how they play and their style of play. Round One is a different ball game so we’re keen to just play a Fever style of game,” she said.
