West Coast Fever Head Coach Stacey Marinkovich says whilst COVID-19 has completely disrupted the 2020 season there are some learnings she’ll be taking with her moving forward.
“One on one catch ups and trainings have been a big focus rather than team meetings lately, and it’s allowed me to get to know the players more intimately and learn what’s really important to them,” said Marinkovich.
“We’ve always been a club who says we are people first and athletes second, and this period has been a great opportunity to embrace that”
“When you put time and effort into something away from the court the response you get on the court is really valuable.”
“Setting aside time to connect with the team one on one is certainly something that has jumped right up there on my priority list as we move into the season.”
The club’s connection has continued to strengthen through this period with improved confidence, trust and communication.
“Individual preparation can be just as powerful as bringing the group together.”
“The girl’s commitment has created a lot of confidence on my end and ultimately strengthened the trust and communication within the club.”
West Coast Fever are more committed than ever with the 2020 season start date in sight of August 1.
