West Coast Fever Captain and LiveLighter Ambassador Courtney Bruce is encouraging the West Australian netball community to maintain their healthy eating and exercise routines across the holiday season.
The Australian Diamonds defender is a product of the Netball WA Athlete Pathway, and has a great passion for health promotion amongst the West Australian netball community.
Through the sport’s partnership with Healthway, Bruce has been a LiveLighter Ambassador across 2020, and rolled out her Coached by Courtney newsletter earlier this year, which focused on the importance of food, exercise and mental wellbeing during the lockdown period.
“The Christmas and New Year period can be busy for everyone, so it’s really important to remember the basics like eating and drinking in moderation and exercising regularly,” Bruce said.
“Simple things like scheduling time aside to exercise are great ways to ensure you stay fit and healthy all year round, but particularly during the festive season.”
Healthway Director of Health Promotion Julia Knapton said adding more veggies and fruit to our festive feasts is an easy way to maintain good health and wellbeing this summer.
“We can all aim to make some healthy LiveLighter recipe swaps, and build in more family walks to enjoy an active, healthy and happy festive season,” Ms Knapton said.
Netball in Western Australia has enjoyed a long association with Healthway through two key partnerships, namely, West Coast Fever’s partnership with the LiveLighter message and Netball WA’s partnership with the Fuel to Go & Play message.
The Fuel to Go & Play Association Championship was again Netball WA’s largest event, held over the September long weekend at the Gold Netball Centre and Wembley Sports Park.
“I’m incredibly proud to be a LiveLighter Ambassador,” she said.
“I’ve got a great passion for health promotion and encourage all West Australians to strive to be the healthiest version of themselves, and Healthway shares a similar vision.”
Bruce and West Coast Fever will return to training in 2021.
