West Coast Fever Captain Courtney Bruce has been honoured with Life Membership by the club that started her netball career.
Bruce played netball at Zodiacs Netball Club at a junior level and was nominated for the highest level of recognition at one of the club’s recent Special General Meetings.
Awarded as an acknowledgement of her outstanding service and contribution to both the Club and the sport, Bruce’s netball career has proven her commitment and dedication to each.
“Life Membership is an honour bestowed on individual club members who’s exceptional, loyal and outstanding service and contribution has provided a measurable benefit to the Club over an extended period of time.” Zodiacs President Mick Lenderink stated.
Most recently, Bruce has re-signed with the West Coast Fever for a further two years as their longest serving captain in the club’s history, making this her 11th year playing with the Green Army.
In the 2021 Suncorp Super Netball league, Bruce was ranked first with 97 deflections, 26 defensive rebounds and 97 gains. With 48 intercepts recorded in the league, Bruce was second for intercepts and finished fourth overall with 1007.5 points on the competition’s Nissan Net Points leader board.
Zodiacs President Mick Lenderink continued, stating that Bruce’s commitment and service has been “reflected by her decorated career, beginning at Zodiacs, rising through the ranks at WANL, State teams, now Captain for the West Coast Fever and representing her country as an Australian Diamond, the highest achievement in netball. She is a leader and role model both on and off the court, inspiring the future generations of Netballers at Zodiacs."
