West Coast Fever mid courter Verity Charles reflects on how much her mum has done for her throughout her netball career.
It seems Charles wasn’t the only netball star in her family, having played in the same netball team as her mum growing up.
“She was an absolute gun on the netball court. Every game she would get MVP and was always awarded Player of the Year every season.”
Charles’ mum did a lot behind the scenes, driving Charles to and from state trainings in NSW.
“Mum used to drive me from Grafton to Sydney and back every weekend. Rain, hail or shine, without complaints. Sometimes with us getting home in the early hours of the morning.”
Charles and her mum still share a special bond over netball as Charles says you’ll often find them down at the local park shooting hoops.
“I am still yet to beat her in a game of horse,” laughs Charles.
