West Coast Fever Head Coach Stacey Marinkovich praised young gun defender Olivia Lewis, following her second half performance against the Melbourne Vixens over the weekend.
Lewis was injected into Goal Keeper following half time in Saturday’s loss to the Vixens, with Captain Courtney Bruce pushed to Goal Defence, with the combination reaping immediate rewards as Fever took the third quarter bonus point.
The 20-year-old, who made her National League debut earlier this year, finished with four gains, including two strong rebounds, as she lined up on veteran shooter Caitlin Thwaites and the returning Mwai Kumwenda.
Marinkovich said she was pleased with the way Lewis played in her 30 minutes on the court.
“I think it was really exciting,” Marinkovich said.
“To be able to have that changeup and have Liv go out there and for someone so young to be getting ball is really impressive.”
“To have that versatility of Courtney coming out and being able to deliver to the post and to have a different dynamic out the front was great for us.”
“I think that showed versatility and a really bright future for us as well.”
Fever now face the Collingwood Magpies on Monday, August 12 at RAC Arena in the Club’s penultimate home game of the season.
Tickets are again selling fast, with another big crowd expected.
