Wilkinson went down during the third quarter of Sunday’s win over the NSW Swifts with scans confirming she will miss the first half of the season.
Fever General Manager Sara Francis-Bayman said Wilkinson has significant damage to the ankle but has managed to avoid surgery.
“When Olivia went down, given the pain and discomfort she was in immediately, we did fear a long time on the sidelines was a likely outcome,” Francis-Bayman said.
“Our Medical Team will now work with her to ensure we get her back on the court for the latter stages of the season.”
Francis-Bayman said Fever would not confirm a replacement player until closer to the season.
“We are obviously experiencing a few injuries at the moment. We will have a look at our options during this weekend’s matches against the Thunderbirds in Kalgoorlie and Perth then look to name Olivia’s replacement leading into our first home game.
“The positive news is that Zoe Cransberg and Ruth Aryang are progressing in their recoveries so we hope they will be able to return to the team in the early stages of the season.”
