Talented defender Rudi Ellis, 24, has signed with West Coast Fever for the 2022 and 2023 Suncorp Super Netball seasons.
Ellis has played 17 SSN games at Goal Keeper and Goal Defence since making her debut for the Queensland Firebirds in 2020.
During the 2021 season she recorded 24 deflections, 8 intercepts and 4 rebounds as part of the Firebirds’ defensive rotation, where she applied great physical pressure in the goal circle, and was selected in the 2021/22 Australian Development Squad.
Ellis has tasted success in the Australian Netball League as a premiership player with the Victorian Fury, and also spent time as an extended squad member at NSW Swifts in 2017 and Melbourne Vixens in 2018 and 2019.
Ellis said she was looking forward to making the move west and playing with Fever in front of the Green Army.
“I’m really excited to move west and have the opportunity to play with such an amazing team. It’s going to be great coming into the Fever environment with a team that has been building these past few years, but with a new coach that offers new perspective,” she said.
“I think being a part of such a successful team with what seems to be an amazing club culture was the biggest draw card for me. Also being able to learn and play with some of Australia’s best circle defenders in Courtney Bruce and Sunday Aryang, as well as practicing week in and out on one of the world’s best shooters, Jhaniele Fowler.
“I am really looking forward to getting to know the team, coaches and support staff. I’m not afraid of new challenges and although my time in Perth has been limited, I have family and friends in WA and I cannot wait to call it my home.”
