West Coast Fever have signed young goal attack Sasha Glasgow for the 2021 Suncorp Super Netball season.
Glasgow has spent four seasons with the Adelaide Thunderbirds where she scored 503 goals over 32 games. The 22-year-old proved her ability as both a goal shooter and goal attack, this year taking advantage of the new two-point Super Shot which will now remain in place for the 2021 season.
To cap off a great year, the South Australian was recognised as one of the country’s most exciting up-and-coming netballers by being selected in the 2020/21 Australian Development squad.
In 2019 Glasgow stepped into the Thunderbirds starting line-up, where she shot over 300 goals at 85% accuracy, playing across both the goal shooter and goal attack positions, before succumbing to a knee injury in Round 13.
In 2020 from limited court time, she shot at 78% from normal range and 44% from Supershot range.
Glasgow’s signing finalises West Coast Fever’s squad for 2021 with Head Coach Stacey Marinkovich excited to have Glasgow join the team.
“Sasha is an exciting young talent who has proven her versatility across both the goal shooter and goal attack position at SSN level,” she said.
“She utilises a good variation of attributes when coming up against experienced defenders and I am looking forward to seeing how we can develop and challenge Sasha both on and off the court.”
Glasgow said she is looking forward to moving west and joining the Fever family.
“I’m so excited, I couldn’t be happier to be joining the Fever team, the girls have got such a great culture and obviously Stacey really drives that. I’m really honoured to be a part of it and put on the green next year.” Glasgow said.
Glasgow has played alongside fellow Fever teammates Alice Teague-Neeld and Jess Anstiss in the 2017 Youth World Cup team.
“I’m really looking forward to living in Perth and from a netball perspective; getting to play with the best goal shooter in the world and also getting back in and playing with Alice, having previous experience with her at the World Youth Cup level, I’m just really excited to get in the circle with them,” Glasgow said.
Glasgow is also looking forward to training with Captain and Australian defender Courtney Bruce.
“We’ve had some good tussles in the past playing against each other, but I think it’s going to be so much more important and a pivotal part of my game is being able to train against her almost every day and being able to call her a teammate.” Glasgow said.
