The Suncorp Super Netball 2020 season will commence on Saturday August 1, announced today.
Netball Australia has outlined the format for 2020 will consist of the full 60-match home and away season including a finals series, with fixtures to be announced soon.
This season’s Suncorp Super Netball was postponed in late March due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which resulted in club training being suspended and international and interstate players returning home.
West Coast Fever coach, Stacey Marinkovich said the players have been doing the hard work off the court while in isolation and news of the start date allows the players to focus on playing their first game on the weekend of August 1.
“This is great news, the players have been training by themselves since March, not knowing when the season would start or how long we would have to train together to prepare for the season.”
“Being told the date and also being allowed to train together as a team is a huge motivating factor for our players and our coaching staff to hit the court and get as much game practice in as possible,” Marinkovich said.
West Coast Fever Managing Director, Simon Taylor said the club will be working with the league and the government to see fans return to the sidelines at RAC Arena.
“Our fans are very important to us and their ongoing support through this unpredictable time has been amazing.”
“We will be doing everything we can to bring the fans into RAC Arena to cheer on the Fever,” Taylor said.
Members will be receiving further information once the season format is finalised in the coming weeks.
