West Coast Fever will hit the road and travel to Queensland after Suncorp Super Netball (SSN) League’s announcement today for all eight teams to relocate to Queensland for the majority of the season.
The announcement of the Queensland hub has ensured the full 60-match season will be delivered and consist of 14 rounds and a normal finals series.
West Coast Fever are disappointed by SSN’s announcement today, which overlooked WA in favour for Queensland to host majority of games this season.
The Club is currently exploring options with the League to secure as many home games as possible, with a small carve out in the fixtures being reported by the League, to ensure Fever players and coaching staff are not on the road the entire season and that fans are able to attend home games at RAC Arena.
West Coast Fever Managing Director, Simon Taylor said: “WA is arguably the safest environment in Australia, and we have had several options on the table with the League for the last 6-8 weeks which have been overlooked.”
“Our focus and determination will see us unite even more than ever as we seek to challenge for the 2020 Suncorp Super Netball competition title in what is undoubtedly the most challenging year of the sports history.” Mr Taylor said.
The high demand for elite netball was showcased on Wednesday night when close to 4500 fans packed into RAC Arena to see Fever take on the All-Stars in a preseason game. On Wednesday night, West Coast Fever set the standard on netball delivery post COVID-19 in preparation for a full home game fixture.
Fever are still waiting for the release of the opening round fixture. SSN has advised the first phase of fixtures is to be announced within the coming week.
