The West Coast Fever Netball Club is devastated by the announcement today regarding breaches of the Super Netball League’s (SNL) compliance rules.
As has been outlined by the SNL Commission, the League made our Club aware of a potential compliance issue during the 2020 season, at which time we conducted our own review and self-reported what we now understand to be a significant breach of the League’s salary cap rules across the 2018 and 2019 seasons.
As a Club, we take full responsibility for this outcome. We have always been united in our wins and our losses, and today is no different.
Our purpose as a Club is to inspire and make you proud. Today, we have failed to deliver on that promise. We have let down our members, staff, players, partners and fans, and we understand and share their deep disappointment at this news.
It’s important to know that we are deeply committed to ensuring this never happens within our Club again.
We have already commenced a significant review of our structure as an organisation, and we are taking steps to enhance and ensure both operational and Board level oversight of all compliance areas across our Club moving forward.
From the beginning of this process, we committed our full cooperation to the League’s investigation, and we have worked collaboratively with them to ensure today’s outcomes were complete and transparent.
The Club would like to make it absolutely clear that our Coaches and players had no involvement or knowledge of these breaches.
We would also like to make clear that we will not be commenting any further on any other individuals in relation to these breaches – we take full responsibility for this outcome as a Club, and as a Club we are committed to ensuring this can never happen again.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Super Netball League Commission for their support throughout this difficult process, and we look forward to continuing to work with the League to grow and strengthen our national competition.
We are a strong Club, and we know we are fortunate to have dedicated, passionate and loyal supporters.
With the support of our community, we will be focusing on the bright future of our sport in Western Australia and working hard to once again make them proud.
Please note, we will not be making any further comment on this matter.
Thank you.
