Fever currently pose the biggest threat to the Swifts’ eight-game undefeated streak and will be looking to identify any cracks in their game that have yet to be shown.
If Fever can knock them off, the remaining half of the season will look very different with proof the Swifts aren’t unstoppable.
With Jhaniele Fowler-Nembhard back at the helm of Fever’s attack, all eyes will be on one of the biggest show downs of the season. Who can have the biggest impact in goals between new signing Grace Nweke and seasoned pro Fowler-Nembhard?
Fever are coming off the back of a 17-goal win over the Queensland Firebirds in front of our second largest regular season crowd ever. The side are confident in their ability to once again take on two consecutive away games successfully.
The Swifts narrowly escaped with another win last week, coming away with a two-goal win over the Adeliade Thunderbirds at home.
Last time they met
The teams kicked off the season together in Round One as Nweke made her Suncorp Super Netball debut. Fever were without Fowler-Nembhard when the Swifts’ inflicted theshock 18-goal loss, an asset which will likely change the game.
In 2024, Fever won both their matchups with a dominate display over the Swifts.
Head-to-head
In their second meeting, Kadie-Ann Dehaney will be up against Nweke and will be utilising her on the body style to disrupt the Swifts under the post shooting.
English Roses will once again put their friendship and international teammate status to the side for a night as Fran Williams aims to block the super shot capabilities of Helen Housby.
Swifts’ Sarah Klau won’t have an easy job come Saturday, taking on our formidable and record-breaking Fowler-Nembhard. The two have plenty of experience against each other, both domestically and internationally, but haven’t faced off so far this season.
From the Coach
Head Coach Dan Ryan said the side that faced the Swifts in Round One is very different to the side who will face them this week.
“This is a great opportunity to test ourselves against the best in the competition, the Swifts have been setting the benchmark,” he said.
“At this point in the season they know their strengths and the growth areas, but so do we, so it will make a great match-up.”
