Speaking after Sunday’s 10-goal victory over the Lightning, Ryan said he was pleased with his team’s response following the loss at home to the Thunderbirds.
The Fever’s centre pass to goal ratio was drastically improved, sitting at an impressive 91 per cent compared to just 67 per cent the week prior.
“I’m very pleased with our centre pass to goal ratio, considering how awful it was last week against the Thunderbirds, it was a clear focus area for us,” Ryan said.
“Our attacking combos stuck to task really well and the work rate was really high to ensure that we made the most of our possession.
“It was a big improvement and I am really pleased to see that growth area.”
Ryan also praised his team for their efforts on the court despite enduring three weeks on the road out of four.
“Fatigue is there, but I think it even makes today's performance even more important,” he said.
“We saw the fatigue creep up last week but I thought their ability to grind it out and just tough out the tough times was really important.”
The Coach said Fever would recuperate before this week’s clash with the Melbourne Vixens in Melbourne and take confidence out of their squad depth, especially in defence.
“We'll take great confidence out of today and do everything we can to freshen up early in the week heading into the Vixens game,” he said.
“It's great to have options and all four of our defenders are very, very different, they suit certain opposition better than some and they all have really unique skill sets.”
Fever will continue their 2023 SSN campaign against the Vixens at John Cain Arena on Sunday 7 May. Catch West Coast Fever live and free with Kayo Freebies from 12pm WST.
