The Situation
This week marks the second half of a split Indigenous Round, in which First Nations peoples and cultures will be recognised and celebrated. Both teams will again wear their Indigenous dresses and play the game with SSN's indigenous match ball.
The clash has been shifted from Melbourne to Sydney after the league was forced to adjust its schedule due to the COVID outbreak in Victoria.
There will be no public access to the neutral venue, meaning spectator support will be taken out of the equation.
Magpies are coming from a 62-53 loss to NSW Swifts in Sydney last Sunday and have remained in New South Wales awaiting the arrival of West Coast Fever.
Fever remains the only undefeated team of the 2021 Suncorp Super Netball season following a thrilling one-goal win over GIANTS at RAC Arena in Round 5.
Fever Goal Shooter Jhaniele Fowler said her side was looking forward to the contest.
“Collingwood is always a strong side, they match up against us really well.
“We need to have a really good start in order not be chasing anyone down and having to catch up so we can just push on and punish them from the get-go.”
Key Match Up
Goal Shooter v Goal Keeper
Jhaniele Fowler v Geva Mentor
Fowler continues to be the focal point for West Coast Fever with 279 goals so far this season, 65 ahead of her nearest competitor in Swifts Shooter Sam Wallace. She sealed Fever’s win in Round 5 with a goal after the siren from a penalty and will be focussed on continuing her strong form this Saturday. Magpies defender and English international Geva Mentor, who is still one of the most dynamic defenders in the world, has the difficult job of containing Fowler but comes well equipped with height, agility and had 7 gains and four intercepts last week.
