Fever are coming off the back of their first win of 2025, taking down the Melbourne Vixens in their home territory by 10-goals. In her massive return, Fowler-Nembhard scored an impressive 59 goals from 61 attempts.
The Lightning are also coming off a win, dominating the Queensland Derby with a 14-goal victory over the Firebirds.
Team selection will be announced on Friday, 1 May 2pm WST where an update on Sunday Aryang’s return will be confirmed.
In 2024, Fever put on clinical and cohesive performances in all three of their hit-outs against the Lightning, coming out undefeated against the side.
To kick off last season, Fever won by 25 goals in front of the Green Army, then continued to win by two goals in Round Eight and advanced to the Preliminary final following their 10 goal win in the Minor Semi Final.
Head-to-head
Lightning’s Ashleigh Ervin was dominant during Round Three with 12 deflections, but she will have a whole new set of challenges up against Fowler-Nembhard, who last week shot at a 98 per cent accuracy rate.
Jordan Cransberg had a standout game against the Vixens, with seven pick-ups and a deflection. She will take on either Mahalia Cassidy or Lessa Mi Mi in the centre bib, who last week managed 28-feeds.
Courtney Bruce will also return to her old stomping ground, her battle with Shanice Beckford always providing stand-out moments.
From the Coach:
Dan Ryan said that after a rough first couple of weeks, it was great to see such a good performance from the team.
“What we rolled out against the Vixens was much more to our standards and what we expect of ourselves,” Ryan said.
“I know Jae is going to love being back at home and I’m sure the fans are going to be really excited to see her.
“We’re ready to get back out there in front of the Green Army, they’ve been such loyal supporters for a long time so we’ll be on point and our game will be strong.”
