The Situation
West Coast Fever opened the season against the Adelaide Thunderbirds and will finish the home and away season playing against them. Fever’s back half of the season has seen the Perth side remain undefeated after seven rounds. Thunderbirds will be another challenge for Fever, they have nothing to lose and will look to throw everything at Fever. A win by Fever this round could see them jump to second on the Suncorp Super Netball ladder.
Key Match Ups
Goal Shooter v Goal Keeper
Jhaniele Fowler v Shamera Sterling
Jhaniele Fowler continues to entertain fans with her high scoring, she has currently scored 741 goals for the season, averaging 57 goals a game at 94%. Fowler and Sterling are no strangers, playing alongside each other at an international level for the Jamaican team, the Sunshine Girls. Sterling is currently leading the competition with defensive rebounds.
Wing Defence v Wing Attack
Jess Anstiss v Chelsea Pitman
Cementing herself as one of the best wing defences in the league, Anstiss has a strong one-on-one defensive style. Last week Anstiss threw her body on the line to win the ball and this game will be no different for the tough-as-nails mid-courter. Anstiss will be setting herself up for another tough battle against Pitman, who will play her last game for the Adelaide Thunderbirds.
Goal Keeper v Goal Shooter
Courtney Bruce v Lenize Potgieter
Potgieter has been the Thunderbirds leading goal scorer this season and will be another challenge for star defender Courtney Bruce. Bruce has been in terrific form; she has currently made 33 intercepts and 27 defensive rebounds for the season. Both players have experience on the international stage with Potgieter (South Africa) and Bruce (Australia) playing in the 2019 Netball World Cup, adding a wealth of experience to both sides.
