Last Week
Fever survived a slow start to defeat the NSW Swifts in Sydney by 11 goals.
Scores were level at half time, until Fever turned up the defensive pressure in the third quarter to go into the final change with an eight-goal advantage.
Alice Teague-Neeld was again excellent for Fever, finishing with 112 Nissan Net Points, 46 Feeds and 32 Goal Assists. Supershot specialist Sasha Glasgow again had the hot hand, finishing with seven from eight attempts as well as two critical gains late in the third quarter.
The Firebirds travelled to Melbourne to play Collingwood and entered half time with a five-goal lead.
The Magpies dominated the third quarter (23-8) to turn the game on its head. While the Firebirds won the last quarter, the damage had been done as the Magpies held on for a 69-61 win.
Goal Keeper Remi Kamo had an amazing game for the Firebirds, finishing with seven Gains, four Intercepts and five Deflections. Goal Shooter Donnell Wallam was the focal point in attack with 38 goals at 97 per cent and three supershots from six attempts.
Match Ups
Former Firebird Kim Jenner will face off against her old side for the first time and will form part of a defensive unit which will aim to restrict the Firebirds, in particular Wallam.
Jenner is coming off her best game in the green dress against the Swifts where she finished with six Deflections, three Gains and one Intercept as she quelled the influence of English Import Helen Housby.
The Firebirds defence will have to stop the firepower of leading goal scoring Jhaniele Fowler and Glasgow. Kamo, Ruby Bakewell-Doran and Gabi Simpson, in game 150, will need to be at their best to restrict the Fever duo.
