Williams, who joined Fever in 2024, has plenty of experience of grand final pressure and is taking the challenge of playing the Melbourne Vixens in Melbourne in her stride.
“I’ve had my experience of grand final moments at home in the Super League, but this is my first SSN grand final. It’s exciting but definitely comes with different pressure and stakes,” she said.
“We’re just embracing playing in front of the Melbourne crowd.
“How cool for netball that we get to play at an iconic venue like Rod Laver. We know that the Green Army will be supporting there in person and from home.”
The realities of being a West Australian sporting team has meant the side have had a tough season of travel, a challenge they decided to take head on.
“We knew from the beginning of the year in order to win the season we would need to win away, so that doesn’t feel new to us,” Williams said.
“When we go away our Fever bubble just stays really strong.”
After finishing the season as Minor Premiers, a title they cemented in Round 13, the side have had a week off in preparation for the grand final.
Williams said the week off hasn’t slowed the team down, with the squad having an extra spring in their step and looking fit and feisty in training.
“We’re very good at sticking to our processes and normal routine,” she said.
“Something we pride ourselves on is that our training environment is as tough as it’s going to get for us, so when we go out there on game day we can play our best.”
