West Coast Fever’s best goal shooter, Jhaniele Fowler has been crowned the Suncorp Super Netball Player of the Year for a record third consecutive season.
Fowler has cemented herself in the record books as the League’s best goal shooter, averaging more than 60 goals per game throughout the season. Fowler finished with 979 points at an impressive 94 per cent accuracy.
Speaking from Jamaica, Fowler said she was overjoyed to have received the Player of the Year Award.
“I’m so happy to win this award, it’s a huge honour,” Fowler said.
“To have won the SSN MVP for the third consecutive year, it’s no longer the mere feeling of being elated it's much more.
“I'm beyond honoured and moved by this, and I'm not easily moved (pun intended), to be recognized for something I'm extremely passionate about.
Despite all the success Fowler made some significant sacrifices to play in the SSN this season, while she spent 82 days in the Queensland hub with her teammates, it was the time away from family that was the hardest. Fowler spent nine months away from her daughter and family who remained in Jamaica unable to travel due to COVID restrictions.
Fowler was named in the Nissan Net Points Team of the Round nine times this season and has been named in the SSN Team of the Year.
Fever Head Coach Stacey Marinkovich congratulated Fowler on another successful season.
“Jhaniele is the ultimate professional; her grit, determination and dedication to Fever and netball is unwavering. She thoroughly deserves this award, and we are so proud of what Jhaniele has achieved,” Marinkovich said.
‘We can’t wait for Jhaniele to return to Perth in the new year and represent Fever once again on court.”
