West Coast Fever Goal Attack Sasha Glasgow believes a focus on fitness and conditioning during this pre-season has her in great shape for the 2023 Suncorp Super Netball Season.
Glasgow is entering her third season with Fever and coming off an outstanding 2022, where she scored 136 goals and 56 super shots, said she wanted to stay consistent during 2023.
“My key focus is still fitness and conditioning. I really want to stay consistent and be able to run out 60-minute games,” Glasgow said.
“The work I can do with Alice and Coshy over the line, working on wing attack, goal attack combinations and filtering that through when Jhaniele gets here is also a focus.”
She said she has loved being back in training after a break with family and friends back in South Australia over Christmas and New Year.
“The break was great. I was able to get home to South Australia which was really nice to see friends and family and have good food,” she said.
“Before Christmas, we had a really good hit out, got almost all the group together so it was really nice just to try different combinations and get in the circle.”
She said the squad was travelling brilliantly leading into phase two of the Club’s pre-season.
“We are really lucky we’ve had a massive core group together for a lot of the 11 weeks and we’ve been hitting training really hard. Liam’s been looking after us, Dan’s been great and having the introduction of Nerida, the assistant coach, has just been brilliant.”
Glasgow said while the whole squad was looking good, she believed new recruit Kim Jenner was a standout performer so far this pre-season.
“She has been smashing it since coming over to the west and I think she has definitely stood her mark for where she wants to be. It was great and exciting playing against her and now having her as a teammate this year.”
West Coast Fever begins the Suncorp Super Netball Season against Melbourne Vixens in Round 1 on Saturday 18 March at RAC Arena.
