A confident long-range shooter, Ekenasio made her professional debut in 2011 with the Queensland Firebirds and made her national debut for New Zealand in 2014.
During her career, she has claimed two ANZ Premiership titles, Constellation Cup success and Fast5 success, and was a vital member of the Silver Ferns’ 2019 Netball World Cup-winning side.
Alongside her on-court success, Ekenasio is a mother and stepped away from international duties in 2025 to spend more time with her growing family.
Speaking about the opportunity to compete in the Super Netball League, Ekenasio said joining West Coast Fever was a dream come true and an honour.
“After all my conversations with Dan and Sara, I feel so genuinely excited about the season and the opportunity to grow my game. Knowing I'll be moving my family over, feeling supported and understood as a Mum is important to me,” she said.
“Being able to play with Jhaniele will be special as well, that circle will be a lot of fun. I’ve always wanted to shoot super shots and it’s a closer distance, I can’t wait!
“I’m someone who is all in and to be able to come over and experience a new environment is a privilege, I just want to work hard to be my best for Fever and play great netball.”
West Coast Fever General Manager Sara Francis-Bayman said Ameliaranne brings an incredible wealth of leadership, knowledge and big-game experience to the team.
“Having competed on the biggest stages for both club and country, she knows exactly what it takes to perform and succeed at the highest level,” she said.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to welcome Ameliaranne and her family to Perth, and we can’t wait to see the impact her experience, skill and attacking brilliance will have on our team.”
