While Fever has used male players in the training environment for a number of seasons, 2022 marked the first time the players were officially contracted Male Training Partners.
Australian representatives Jerome Gillbard, Daniel Cools, Dylan McPherson and Dravyn Lee-Tauroa will once again be part of Fever’s SSN campaign, as the squad looks to attack the 2023 season.
Coach Dan Ryan said Fever was lucky to boast four of the world’s best Male Netballers right here in their own backyard.
“To be honest, they were one of the secret weapons or the key elements to our success last season,” Ryan said.
“They bring great energy, great intensity, great insight and physically they really challenge every single one of the players. They helped us prepare for the challenges of an SSN court.”
Ryan, who also spent time training in a female high performance environment during his own playing days, said it was great to see the inclusion of male netballers into the SSN environment.
“We’ve seen a real emergence of Men’s Netball in the past 12 months and now other SSN clubs are jumping on board and promoting their male training partners for what they bring to the sport,” he said.
“The male players understand the high performance needs of our environment, they understand the professionalism and finer details.
“They bring great energy and great character into the environment. They work really hard and they know they are here to do a job with a purpose.
“We know how critically important they are for us to be ready to go come game day.”
All four Male Training Partners will also take part in the 2023 Gold Industry Group West Australian Netball League Men’s Competition which commences on Friday 10 March.
