The girls in green will be riding the momentum of their sensational two-goal win over the Sunshine Coast Lightning last week, ready to earn another win front of their beloved Green Army.
The Melbourne Mavericks went down by 12 goals in Sunday’s derby to the Melbourne Vixens and are currently sitting one place under Fever on the ladder, giving them plenty to fight for.
In 2024, Fever claimed victory over the Mavericks in both clashes including their Round 14 19-goal win in front of a record crowd of 11,841 fans.
Head-to-head:
Kadie-Ann Dehaney’s final minutes of Round Four changed the outcome of the game, her presence nothing short of critical. Dehaney will be focused on Maverick Shimona Jok, who shot 43 goals in the Melbourne Derby at 91 per cent accuracy.
After Jhaniele Fowler-Nembhard’s huge return to RAC Arena which included 54 goals, she will face former teammate Oliva Lewis in Goal Keeper. Lewis managed two intercepts and two deflections in Round Four, but achieving such stats around Fowler-Nembhard won’t be so easy.
Maverick Amy Parmenter is known for her tenacity for a reason, with six deflections against the Vixens. On Saturday, she will need to be at full focus against Alice Teague-Neeld who managed 35 Feeds, 19 Goal Assists and an intercept against the Lightning.
From the Coach:
Head Coach Dan Ryan said the Lightning match was played at finals intensity.
“To have that experience early in the season and come out on the right side of the score line was great,” he said.
“The Mavericks are a very tough team who will target us all across the court.
“They’ve got an incredible target in Shimona Jok but we’ll need to make sure we’ve got all seven positions covered and that our game plan covers everything.”
