In Suncorp Super Netball conditions at Selkirk Stadium, Fever put on a brilliant display of the work they have been putting in over the pre-season so far.
Q1 Fever 18 | Giants 14
Olivia Wilkinson took the first goal for the Fever and continued her success throughout the quarter, whilst counterpart Shanice Beckford utilised her agility to be all over the court.
Fran Williams proved a match for English Rose teammate Jo Harten, causing a held ball under the post.
A time out saw the Giants level the score momentarily, before Fever came out firing in the last minutes.
Q2 Fever 40 | Giants 25
The second quarter belonged to Fever, the side dominating the pace and control to take a 15-point lead by half time.
In a change to the mid-court Zoe Cransberg came on in the Centre bib.
Defence was locked in with Kadie- Ann Dehaney fast and strong in her position, limiting Harten’s ability to go for the super shot.
A couple more super shots by Beckford and Mwai Kumwenda, mixed with a stunning intercept by Williams meant the first half was well and truly Fever’s.
Q3 Fever 54 | Giants 43
The third quarter saw Training Partner Caitlyn Brown, alongside Fever invitee’s Sloan Burton and Clara Wigley step on court to the sounds of their cheering teammates.
Burton made her entrance with a goal assist for Wilkinson, followed by her own goal.
Despite the changes on court, the side continued to make themselves available with plenty of options down the court.
Q4 Fever 68 | Giants 62
Dehaney, Williams and Aryang continued their magic in defence in the fourth quarter.
Teague-Neeld made herself free around the circle, providing options for Wilkinson and Kumwenda.
The Giants fought back in the final quarter, but it wasn’t enough to get around the girls in green.
Fever will now take on the Melbourne Vixens in their last game of the Ballarat Blitz tomorrow morning at 8am (WST).
