Fever are riding the momentum of last week’s thrilling 11-goal win, knocking off the undefeated ladder leaders, the NSW Swifts.
This will be Fever’s fourth away game in five weeks, a huge effort that the team have taken in their stride.
With five games remaining in the regular season, Fever are determined to take a win over the Mavericks to put them in good stead as the race to finals begins.
For the Mavericks, the Round Nine Melbourne Derby ended in a nine-goal loss to the Vixens. The side, who are sitting at sixth on the ladder, will be doing everything in their power to make their inaugural finals campaign.
The two teams faced off in Round Five this year at RAC Arena when Fever dominated with a 17-goal win in front of a roaring Green Army.
Head-to-Head
Fever’s defensive end has produced some of the best performances in the League in recent weeks. Mavericks Shimona Jok and Sasha Glasgow will have no room for error against Sunday Aryang, Kadie-Ann Dehaney and Fran Williams.
Maverick Molly Jovic will need to be ready to run to face Jordan Cransberg, whose sensational performance in centre last week was capped off with one Intercept and two Deflections.
When they met earlier this year, Maverick Defenders Kim Brown and Olivia Lewis came out with a tough on the body defensive style, double-teaming Jhaniele Fowler-Nembhard. Fever’s star shooter was able to withstand and push through, something she will be looking to repeat come Saturday.
From the Coach
Head Coach Dan Ryan said the team are focused on making sure the quality of their performance takes care of outcomes, locked into what’s directly in front of them.
“They have a very unorthodox defensive style, they’re very ariel and can be quite disruptive to the opposition’s flow, so we just need to be able to whether that,” he said.
Gear up in Green and support the team from home by tuning into Kayo Sports, Foxtel and Binge this Saturday, 14 June from 3pm WST.
