Quarter by Quarter:
Q1: Fever 15 | Swifts 18
The Swifts jumped out to an early lead after capitalising on some early Fever turnovers.
By the time the Swifts called a time out with six minutes to play, Fever had fought back to lead by one. Alice Teague-Neeld and Glasgow were working hard in attack to find holes in the Swifts’ defence while two gains from skipper Courtney Bruce helped get the visitors back in the contest.
Scores were at the start of the Power 5 and the Swifts made their move with two supershots to Helen Housby helping them to a quarter time lead.
Q2: Fever 35 | Swifts 35
Swifts extended their lead to five goals early in the second quarter before a Fever timeout and re-jig of the line-up started to turn the term towards the away side. Kim Jenner came on at Goal Defence, Sunday Aryang in game 50 moved to Wing Defence and Jess Anstiss moved to Centre.
Fever’s pressure all over the court made life tough for the Swifts and they were able to complete the hard work in attack. Bruce was superb in defence finishing with five Gains and two Intercepts for the half.
A Glasgow supershot early in Power 5 saw them hit the front before Housby responded on the buzzer to level scores at the main break.
Q3: Fever 59 | Swifts 51
Fever turned up the defence in the third quarter. Some defensive brilliance from Bruce early in the third saw Fever open up a five-goal lead halfway through the quarter.
Jenner, in her best outing for Fever, played a crucial role as Fever began to build a lead and she had the better of the contest with English International Housby.
A Glasgow superhot at start of Power 5 saw the Fever lead by six as Coach Dan Ryan called time out. After the resumption, Glasgow pulled out two vital gains to ensure the Fever had the advantage leading into the last quarter.
Q4: Fever 78 | Swifts 67
Fever continued to control the contest and led by nine goals heading into the Power 5 as the Swifts injected Fawns to try and close the gap.
Glasgow scored three supershots, to finish with seven from eight for the game, and matched the three scored by Housby to ensure Fever left Sydney with the points.
