West Coast Fever has taken the opportunity to reflect on the 2019 season at this week's Annual General Meeting, hosted via videoconference.
The Meeting provided the Board the opportunity to discuss the Club's 2019 season from all aspects, whilst also continuing to plan for 2020, despite the challenges presented by the COVID-19 outbreak.
The year marked a number of milestones for the Club, including taking all seven home games to RAC Arena for the first time, thanks to the support of the City of Perth.
The Club also surpassed its all-time membership record, with more than 3,500 fans making the ultimate commitment to the Club.
Additionally, the year also saw the Gold Industry Group join Fever as an Elite Partner, while the Club also welcomed Linley Valley Pork and HCF to the Fever Family, alongside a number of Partners and Preferred Suppliers.
On the court, Alice Teague-Neeld and Beryl Friday made their West Coast Fever debuts in Rounds 1 and 11, respectively, while West Australian young guns Olivia Lewis and Sunday Aryang made their National League debuts in Rounds 1 and 3, respectively. Jhaniele Fowler shot her 4,000th national league goal making her the most prolific shooter of the competition, finishing the year with 709 goals at 94% accuracy.
West Coast Fever Chairman, Deane Pieters, said it was an appropriate time to reflect on 2019 and continue planning 2020.
“Whilst the 2019 season didn’t reach the heights we desired from an on court perspective, we remain optimistic in what the future holds with the plans we have put in place, “Pieters said.
“It’s evident that each year brings a different set of challenges to overcome. Challenges that test our strategic vision as a club and high performance goals on and off the court. This couldn’t be more underlined midst the current crisis”
"Our Board has wonderful expertise across a range of industries, and we're extremely lucky to have them as part of our Club."
"There's no doubt we're living in unprecedented times currently, and I urge everyone – members fans and the broader netball community to remain safe and play your part in helping to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus, while knowing that we're working hard behind the scenes to plan for the 2020 Suncorp Super Netball season."
