Round Four is also Inclusion Round, the celebration of netball as a sport for everyone, and Fever will be supporting the Swifts’ theme for the match-up which is Pride. Fever players will also sport Rainbow Bibs for the fixture.
Fever is currently sitting three from three following a tough seven-goal win over the Mavericks in Melbourne, and the team will look to continue their winning streak in Sydney.
Fever opened their Team Girls Cup campaign against the Swifts, securing a two-goal win over the side. The Swifts went on to win the pre-season competition, only going down to the Fever across the weekend.
The Swifts are coming off an extra-time win over the Firebirds in Queensland. The Swifts trailed for much of the contest however, they won the final quarter to push the game into overtime, where they were able to secure the points.
Head-to-Head
Round Four could produce a Battle of Roses as English Captain and Fever Defender Fran Williams will be out to stop the Swifts’ Goal Attack and supershot machine Helen Housby.
To stop Housby, Fever will also need defenders Sunday Aryang and Kadie-Ann Dehaney on guard. Dehaney will be aiming for another stellar performance this week after her great performance against the Mavericks which saw her take five gains, four deflections and two intercepts.
Both sides Round Three MVPs Kelsey Browne and Paige Hadley will go head-to-head in centre. Both players are very experienced at SSN level and have Diamonds’ Caps to their names so this will be an explosive match up to keep your eye on.
It will be an absolute battle between Alice Teague-Neeld in Wing Attack and Maddy Turner in Wing Defence, both athletes are known for their ability to control the ball for their squad and will fight until the final whistle.
From the Court
Head Coach Dan Ryan said the Swifts are a quality side who keep getting better every week.
“They’re dangerous all over the court during the super shot period so we have a lot of respect for the Swifts and how good they are,” he said.
“We’ll be ready to go and prime for the contest.”
