West Coast Fever continue to reap the rewards from their record-breaking 80-56 win over Sunshine Coast Lighting on Sunday, with three Fever players making the Nissan Net Points Team of the Round.
Goal shooter and Jamaican superstar Jhaniele Fowler scored 117 net points – the highest this round – with mid-courter Verity Charles named at centre with 108 net points and goal attack Alice Teague-Neeld with 91 net points.
To cap off the brilliant game, Charles was named Player of the Match after finishing the game with 41 feeds and 27 goal assists.
Stacey Marinkovich said it was wonderful news to see the players being rewarded for their effort.
“We were really proud of the way we played on the weekend,” Marinkovich said.
“Whilst it’s nice for our players to be recognised externally, the drive and accountability has to come from within and that’s our key focus.”
Fowler is again leading the scoring for the season with 432 goals, Teague-Neeld sits second in goal assists while Charles is right behind in third.
Fowler has made the Team of the Round seven times this season and she’s put her success down to the close work with her teammates.
“The combinations I have continued to develop with Alice, Kaylia and Emma have been strong this year, and the work they do out the front certainly complements my game nicely,” Fowler said.
“The midcourt run all day and place the ball so well, and our defence is very strong across the court, allowing us to turn ball over.”
Fever take on Queensland Firebirds on Wednesday night at 5.30pm AWST at Nissan Arena.
