Fever are coming off a tough six-goal loss to the Melbourne Vixens and will be determined to respond with a sharper performance.
The Lightning were edged by a single goal in Round Seven and slipped out of the top four, something they’ll be eager to fix in front of their home crowd.
The sides last met in Round One, when Fever opened the season with a three-goal win after withstanding a late Super Shot surge from the Lightning.
Sunday will also mark Head Coach Dan Ryan’s 100th National League Game as a coach. Since joining the Club in 2022, Ryan has led Fever to two grand final appearances, two preliminary finals and the team’s maiden premiership in his first season.
Head-to-head
Donnell Wallam’s fightback in Round One almost dragged the Lightning over the line in the closing minutes. Kadie-Ann Dehaney will be tasked with limiting her influence in the super shot period on Sunday.
Romelda Aiken-George produced her highest-scoring game at the time in Round One, going up against Courtney Bruce and Ash Ervin. Lightnings defensive unit will be focused on denying clean entry and keeping the ball out of her hands.
Through the midcourt, Lightning wing defence Mahlia Cassidy will need to match the speed and agility of Fever’s Jordan Cransberg.
From the court
Head Coach Dan Ryan said he expects Lightning to come into Round Eight with full confidence.
“We always have great battles, and we want to make sure we’re on top of our game, most importantly, responding after what was a really poor and unacceptable performance last weekend,” he said.
