Wilkinson, who was part of the Collingwood Magpies team which won the Australian Netball Championship (ANC) and the Most Valuable Player in the final, said she is excited to get the season started.
“We just finished ANC, and I was coming off the high of winning that, so getting the phone call from Dan [Ryan] felt sort of surreal, I don’t think it felt real until I moved here,” Wilkinson said.
“I think being a part of Fever is something everyone dreams of because the crowds are electric at RAC Arena.
“The club has had a lot of success over the years, so that is something I am looking forward to.”
This season Wilkinson will be focusing on mastering both her positions to be as versatile and useful to the team as possible, as well as learning from the team’s experienced players.
“I am a Goal Attack and Goal Shooter, so I’m trying to be great at both so I can slot in wherever the team needs me,” she said.
“Playing alongside Jhaniele [Fowler-Nembhard] is something that I feel like everyone would love the opportunity to have. So, the fact that I’m training with her and the likes of Shanice Beckford as well is such an unreal experience.”
When she’s not shooting goals on the court, Wilkinson is likely at the beach or studying.
“I’m training to be a personal trainer, so I do that part-time. You’ll also probably find me at the beach most days, Perth has been great for that because the weathers obviously prime,” she said.
Wilkinson will bring a new dynamic to the goal circle for Fever this season, which makes her excited for her first Suncorp Super Netball season.
“I haven’t ever stepped out on an SNN court, so I feel like that’s the first box I’d like to tick,” she said.
“Then also trying to have a successful season, and the Premiership is the end goal for everyone.”
