Fever’s victory was built off miserly defence which saw them lead by as much as 13 goals during the third quarter.
However, when Georgie Horjus converted her fourth supershot of the final term, Fever’s lead had been cut to just three.
After a time out, Fever came out more composed and Zoe Cransberg pulled in a match winning gain to ensure Fever left Adelaide with the points for the first time since 2022.
Zoe’s twin sister Jordan had one of her best performances in the Green Dress and was one of the reasons Fever were able to control much of the contest.
Her game-high 20 Goal Assists combined with two Gains and two Intercepts set the tone for Fever and earned her the Game MVP.
Defender Sunday Aryang was also a star performer for the visitors, ending the game with six Gains, three Intercepts and three Rebounds to lead the charge from the back court.
Fever’s defence was on point from the start, capitalising on Thunderbirds’ missed shots as Aryang and Kadie-Ann Dehaney won the ball leading to goals at the other end.
Jordan Cransberg was crucial in the first quarter as she dominated the mid-court, delivering seven of her Goal Assists to Jhaniele Fowler-Nembhard and Shanice Beckford.
Fever led by four goals at the start of Power Five in the second term, before supershots to Frew and Horjus saw the home team cut Fever’s lead to three goals at the main break.
The visitors scored the first three goals of the third quarter as Fever’s defence upped the pressure on the Thunderbirds.
Fever’s third quarter of seven Gains, two Intercepts and two Deflections was crucial to the end result as they led by 10 goals at the final change, outscoring the Thunderbirds 18 to 10.
Fowler-Nembhard’s 53 goals at 96 per cent brings her well within reach of 9,000 National League Goals. The superstar Jamaican needs just 12 goals next week against the Giants to secure the milestone.
Fever travel again next week when they head to Sydney’s Ken Rosewell Arena to take on the Giants.
