Despite navigating a challenging pre-season marked by several injuries, Fever are confident the squad taking the court is united, prepared, and ready to start the season strongly.
After a pre-season back in green, Sasha Glasgow cannot wait to see the Green Army and show what she’s made of in the shooting circle.
Joining her in a highly anticipated return is crowd favourite Verity Simmons, pulling on the green dress for the first time since 2023.
Legend of the game Romelda Aiken George will be making her debut for the Club, returning to SSN to help fill the shoes of Jhaniele Fowler-Nembhard as she takes on parental leave.
There is also potential for another West Australian pathway product to make her Fever debut, with Sloan Burton stepping up as a Temporary Replacement Player for the injured Olivia Wilkinson in the 10. If Burton debuts, she will follow in her mother's footsteps, former Orioles co-captain Julie-Ann Burton (nee Sloan).
The Lightning will unveil a revamped lineup featuring Silver Ferns captain Karin Burger, former Maverick Gabby Sinclair, and Origin Australian Diamond Donnell Wallam. The new look line up means anything can happen come Sunday.
Head-to- Head
Former Fever premiership teammates will face off in the circle, with Glasgow going up against Lightning vice captain Courtney Bruce. Two players who know each other's styles well and played together for years, their battle will be a sight for the Green Army.
Lightning’s midcourter Ava Black will return to the SSN court for the first time since her ACL injury and will have a tough opponent in Jordan Cransberg. Known for her speed and agility, Cransberg will be gunning for quick transitions down the court and will test Black in her first match back.
In Defence, Kadie-Ann Dehaney is well prepared to face Australian star Cara Koenen. Dehaney will be looking to take every chance to put Koenen off her shot, using her on the body defence to apply plenty of pressure.
From the Court
Captain Jess Anstiss is confident in her squad and what they will be able to do on Sunday despite the tough pre-season.
“It almost brings you closer together as a team, you come together and get around each other,” she said.
“We have huge depth within this team and connections that are really strong, so the players that have come in have been a seamless transition.
“We’re hard on ourselves that no matter who we have playing we have the same expectations and that if injuries do happen, those who come up will represent us well.”
