Despite leading by as many as 15 goals in the third quarter, it was in the final 60 seconds that an intercept from Zoe Cransberg sealed the result for Fever.
Q1 Fever 15 | Vixens 14
The Vixens made the early running, using their speed through the court to gain an advantage.
Fever settled into the contest and began to assert themselves in the defensive end, with Kadie-Ann Dehaney pulling in two rebounds and Fran Williams collecting two deflections.
Despite a heavy hit from Rudi Ellis, Sasha Glasgow responded with two super shots, while Romelda Aiken-George added a goal in the dying seconds to give Fever a one-goal lead at quarter-time.
Q2 Fever 34 | Vixens 25
Fever returned from the first break locked into their task, forcing the Vixens to work the ball down the court rather than feeding cleanly into the goal circle and disrupting their rhythm.
Glasgow added two more super shots for the quarter and continued to draw the defenders out of the circle, creating space for Aiken-George under the post.
Ruth Aryang made an immediate impact with a rebound and applied strong pressure to Sophie Garbin as Fever began to build their lead.
Q3 Fever 50 | Vixens 38
Fever carried their momentum into the third quarter, sticking to their game plan and attacking every contest with intent.
Williams produced an intercept and a deflection in the quarter, her agility allowing her to move quickly around the Vixens shooting circle.
Glasgow nailed another super shot, while relentless pressure from Williams and Dehaney forced a held ball as Kiera Austin attempted to set up for a super shot.
Q4 Fever 64 | Vixens 55
The final quarter featured a five-goal super shot blitz from the Vixens, setting up a tense finish.
Just as it looked like Fever would claim the win but miss out on hosting rights for the Minor Semi Final, Zoe Cransberg came up with a match-sealing moment.
She intercepted the ball in the dying stages and delivered it to teammates on the circle edge, allowing Fever to wind down the clock before Aiken-George scored in the final second.
Fever will now return home to face the Melbourne Mavericks on Sunday, 21 June at 2pm WST. Season members will receive an email on Monday morning with their barcode and instructions on how to access tickets for their same seat.
