Moments that Mattered
The Swifts were down by two heading into the final Power Five but four Super Shots from Sophie Fawns and Helen Housby got their team in to the lead. With scores level in the final minute, Swifts were able to wind down the clock and score the winner with three seconds to go.
Jhaniele Fowler stepped on court for her 150th National League game, the five-time Suncorp Super Netball Most Valuable Player was the highest scorer in the game with 54 Goals.
Quarter by Quarter
Q1: WCF 19 | SWI 15
Fever came out firing in defence with both Sunday Aryang and Courtney Bruce gaining crucial intercepts early to give their team a slight lead.
Swifts managed to being scores back to centre pass but when the Power Five came Fever struck again, with Bruce recording a Defensive rebound and Jess Anstiss Intercepting the ball.
In the forward circle neither Fowler nor Sasha Glasgow missed a shot and with a Super Shot after the siren Glasgow ensured Fever took a four-goal lead into the second quarter.
Q2: WCF 35 | SWI 33
The game was in a holding phase early in the quarter before Fever got the first turnover thanks to an Intercept from Aryang.
Verity Simmons put in an exceptional effort in the first half, combining with her colleagues in the circle for 20 Feeds. Anstiss was also a force with two Gains and a Deflection.
The Swifts found themselves six goals down at one stage but came back in the Power Five off the back of two Super Shots from Fawns.
Fowler put through her first Super Shot of the day to keep Fever an arm’s distance from their opposition at half time.

Both sides started the second half well, with no turnovers for the first six minutes. It was Aryang once again who broke the deadlock with a deflection falling into the hands of Bruce to let Fever extend their lead again.
As the quarter went on, the game got scrappier and when the Power Five came the Swifts were desperate to reduce the seven-goal margin.
With both Housby and Fawns looking for the Super Shots it was difficult for Fever’s defence to stop them but when the duo made an error, Bruce struck with two Rebounds for the quarter.
Q4: WCF 64 | SWI 65
With their season on the line, the Swifts were not going to go quietly and regularly found ways to turn the ball over.
Bruce did her best to stop the momentum and played an incredible quarter with four Gains, three of them coming off turnovers.
Sasha Glasglow forced her from the court at the final tactical timeout due to delayed concussion symptoms, replaced by Emma Cosh at GA for the final minutes of the match. Post-game, Glasgow was diagnosed with concussion.
As the Power Five began, Swifts drew level with the Super Shot and found a way to control the flow of play. With just three seconds on the clock, Fawns was able to put through her final shot and seal the win.
