Round 11 is the first game of a two-week First Nations Round. West Coast Fever will debut their 2026 First Nations Dress, which again incorporates elements from the Club’s Indigenous artwork, Spirit of the Fever, created in 2024 by Contemporary Aboriginal Artist Jilalga Murray of Jilalga Designs.
Off the back of a six-goal loss last weekend at home, Fever are ready to bounce back and claim the four points at Nissan Arena.
The side sits in third place, one win above the Melbourne Mavericks, a position it is keen to hold onto.
The Queensland Firebirds are currently sitting seventh and will be looking to reward their home crowd with a win.
Last time they met, Fever prevailed by four goals but had to weather a late storm as the Firebirds shot three super shots in the final term.
Head-to-head
Kadie-Ann Dehaney has admitted on Fever Pitch that Firebird Mary Cholhok is one of her favourite opponents, with her height adding a different element to the contest. When they met in Round Five, Dehaney recorded five deflections, an intercept and a rebound.
Maddy Gordon is back for the Firebirds and will meet the Cransberg twins in centre. The Kiwi import is yet to face Fever this season, and the battle may come down to whose feeding ability is more influential on Sunday.
Kelly Jackson had one of her best games yet in SSN in Round 10, but that will count for little when she lines up next to record games holder Romelda Aiken-George. Experience and composure under pressure will mean everything.
From the court
Head Coach Dan Ryan said the Firebirds played a really good game against the Giants last week with great players all over the court that can challenge any team in the competition.
“I think for us, it's response mode and just getting back to the things that make us a really hard team to beat,” he said.
“It’s starting the game strongly which has to be front and centre of our mind.”
