Fever trailed by one at the first change before they kicked into gear in an outstanding second quarter. The dominance was built off the back of Fever’s ferocity in defence.
Fran Williams had three Gains for the quarter while the pace of Jordan Cransberg in Centre was troubling the Vixens as she linked the Fever’s manic defensive pressure into goals.
The Jamaican duo of Jhaniele Fowler-Nembhard and Shanice Beckford re-established their connection as Fever scored 21 gaols for the quarter off the back of the pressure across the court.
Lily Graham’s three supershots in the second quarter brought the Vixens to within six at half time.
After the break, Fever continued to control the contest. The visitors had six Gains, five deflections and three Rebounds to extend their lead to 10 at the final change.
Fever built their lead to 13 at the start of the final quarter’s Power Five and while the Vixens scored supershots through Kiera Austin and Sophie Garbin, Fever’s dominance of one-point netball ensured they secured their first win of the season.
Williams and Dehaney starred throughout the contest, combining for 14 Gains, 11 Deflections and 10 Rebounds as they put the Vixens’ goal circle under immense pressure.
Fowler-Nembhard’s return to the SSN Court was marked with 59 goals at 97 per cent in an MVP performance. While Beckford finished the game with 20 Goal Assists and seven goals including one supershot.
