West Coast Fever moved a game clear in fourth place on the ladder with a solid 14-goal win over Melbourne Vixens at Nissan Arena in Brisbane.
A strong defensive effort, sharp shooting from Jhaniele Fowler and creative playmaking from Alice Teague-Neeld saw Fever take control early and withstand a fightback from the Vixens in the third quarter to claim the 64-50 win.
Courtney Bruce set the defensive standard from the outset, forcing Vixens Goal Attack Kaylia Stanton into a held ball on her first opportunity to shoot and finished the game with an impressive six intercepts, eight deflections and nine gains.
Teague-Neeld notched up 19 goal assists from 22 feeds, while Verity Charles was also impressive at Wing Attack with 22 assists from 35 feeds.
Coach Stacey Marinkovich said she was pleased with the way Fever played right across the court.
"I thought we really attacked the game. The way in which we moved the ball I thought we showed great composure when we needed to and defensively I thought it was a really team effort across the entire court," she said.
"I was really happy with the girls that entered in, I thought they brought an energy to the court and sometimes going out there on a rolling sub, you've just got to be able to make that adjustment to the combinations.
"I think we've got a really good balance out there and I think its just the commitment of the girls when they want to play a different strategy, we can execute. But you know there's a long part of the season to go, we've been challenged in execution at different points and we've had to really grow in the last couple of weeks to get that back on point."
Fever looked sharp early and pushed ahead to a six-goal lead before giving up a series of turnovers to Vixens who capitalised to hit the front by a goal before Fever reclaimed the lead to be up 17-15 at quarter time.
Fever took control in the second quarter to outscore Vixens 21-9, spearheaded by a 20-goal quarter from Fowler for a 38-24 lead at half time.
The Vixens fought back to win the third quarter by a goal after Fever gave up eight general play turnovers, seeing the margin reduced to 13 with a 52-39 score line.
Emma Cosh entered the game at Goal Attack in the fourth quarter and scored her first goal for Fever this season, after Sasha Glasgow sat out the game with a foot niggle.
Fowler continued firing in the shooting circle, taking her total to 58 goals at 98 per cent accuracy as Fever ran out convincing 14-goal winners 64-50.
