West Coast Fever look forward to celebrating a Pride Match with the Sunshine Coast Lightning during Round 9 of the Suncorp Super Netball season this Saturday, May 14.
Lightning will host Fever for Pride Match at USC Stadium to promote netball as a place where everyone feels welcome and accepted, irrespective of gender or sexuality.
The match will include rainbow bibs, shoelaces, badges and court decals to signify the Fever and Lighting’s support of LGBTQIA+ communities.
West Coast Fever CEO Simone Hansen thanked Sunshine Coast Lightning for hosting and collaborating on Pride Match.
“I would like to acknowledge the Lightning for their commitment to this initiative and the opportunity to start a journey together that supports acceptance and inclusivity,” she said.
“We look forward to being involved in this Pride Match with the Lightning and taking positive steps as a club to raise awareness of important issues in the wider community.”
“We believe that netball, and sport in general, can play a valuable role in shaping positive community outcomes and will aim to contribute to this wherever possible.”
Pride Match starts at 3pm WST on Saturday, May 14 and will be broadcast live on Foxtel and Kayo.
