The 39-34 win was built off a brilliant defensive performance in the second term as Fever held the Swifts to just three goals for the quarter.
Defender Ruth Aryang was superb, rebounding and driving attack from the back court. Her four Gains and four Rebounds played a key role in Fever’s win.
While Alice Teague-Neeld was a strong presence at Wing Attack, withstanding the physical defence of the Swifts. She finished with 67.5 Nissan Net Points including two Deflections and a Gain.
The Swifts lifted in the second half as Head Coach Dan Ryan managed the Fever workload in oppressive conditions inside Netball SA Stadium.
The third term belonged to the Swifts as they score four goals from Gains as well as three supershots to reduce the margin to two goals at the final break.
The team from the West found a gear when in matter in the final quarter. The reintroduction of Teague-Neeld and Olivia Wilkinson, who finished the game with 26 goals, was critical to the final outcome.
Goal Attack Shanice Beckford was also a prime mover for Fever across four quarters, finishing with nine goals, including one supershot.
Fran Williams also enjoyed an entrahalling battle with fellow Rose Helen Housby. Williams’ four Gains and three Deflections helped Fever win the ball in the back half at important moments.
Fever flew out of the blocks to lead by six goals halfway through the first quarter. Despite no supershot, it was Fever who controlled the Power Three to hold a four-goal lead by the first break.
Fever will now face the Melbourne Vixens in their final round-robin game later today at 3.30pm WST.
