Speaking to the media after the game, Head Coach Dan Ryan said although the team will need some time to get over the disappointment of the loss, he also wants to celebrate the season.
“The way the team have really come together, put us in a good position, not just for this year but the years to come. We should all be really proud of that,” he said.
For the second year in a row, Fever lost the Preliminary Final by one goal.
“Whilst it’s devastating to miss out on a Grand Final spot by one goal again, if this stuff doesn’t harden you, inspire you or drive you to find those incremental improvements, nothing ever will,” he said.
Fever started their 2024 season with a new look lineup, including five new faces. Despite being new teammates and a short 13-week pre-season, the squad came together in spectacular fashion and remained undefeated for the first six rounds.
Dan said the majority of people who know netball didn’t expect the team to do as well as they did.
“I’m proud of my team, I’m proud of my staff, we held ourselves to a really good account across the season,” he said.
“We will be back.”
