West Coast Fever Captain Courtney Bruce has been ruled out of Sunday’s Round 2 clash against the NSW Swifts.
The Australian Diamonds defender will miss the match against the reigning premiers with a lower back injury.
Head Coach Stacey Marinkovich said it was disappointing not to have Bruce available for selection, but noted the challenges of a condensed season.
“There’s no doubt that Courtney delivers a presence on court, both physically and from a leadership perspective,” she said.
“We enter a very busy load period over the next couple of weeks with three games in six days, so we’re certainly mindful of the pressure on our athletes at the moment.”
“We will continue to monitor Courtney and we’re hopeful she will return to action for Tuesday’s match against the Giants.”
Shannon Eagland will also miss today's game as she continues to recover from a calf strain.
Young Queensland defender Bridey Condren has been included in the squad of 12 for Sunday’s match.
