West Coast Fever Captain Courtney Bruce has been ruled out of Tuesday’s Round 3 clash with the Giants.
Bruce missed Fever’s Round 2 loss to NSW Swifts on Sunday with a lower back injury.
The Australian Diamonds defender was given until an hour before the match to pass a final fitness test, but Fever Head Coach Stacey Marinkovich was not prepared to take any risks around her star defender.
“We have had a very short turnaround between Sunday’s game and today, we are looking at the bigger picture and resting Courtney for today’s game will be beneficial to us as a club in the long term.” Marinkovich said.
“We will continue to monitor Courtney and hopeful she will return to action for Round 4.”
In a boost to Fever’s defence, Shannon Eagland has overcome a calf strain and will return to play in her first game for 2020.
