West Coast Fever defender Sunday Aryang has been selected in the 2021 Australia 21 and Under Squad.
Aryang was the only West Australian selected in the 22-athlete squad after Australia’s most promising young netball talent came together last week for state-based training camps.
With selection now made, Netball Australia plans to bring the selected squad together for a training camp at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra in February.
19-year-old Aryang has been a training partner with Fever for the past two years and was added to the extended Fever squad this year where she became an important part of Fever’s defensive line.
Aryang played 14 games this season including her first finals series and is quickly being touted as a player to watch in 2021.
In Fever’s semi final against NSW Swifts, Aryang claimed the most valuable player award for that game.
West Coast Fever Head Coach Stacey Marinkovich congratulated Aryang on her selection.
“Sunday has played an important role in the Fever team this year and continues to grow he game and is thoroughly deserving of this selection,” Marinkovich said.
Netball Australia will make further selections in the months leading up to the 2021 Netball World Youth Cup, set to take place in Fiji from 1-19 December.
