West Coast Fever defender Sunday Aryang and mid-courter Verity Charles have been named in the Round 5 Nissan Net Points Team of the Round after playing pivotal roles in Monday night’s thrilling win over GIANTS.
Aryang was a stand-out at Goal Defence, recording 40 Nissan Net Points with six gains and four intercepts at crucial points of the game.
Charles excelled in offence at Centre and then Wing Attack with 22 goal assists from 39 feeds to notch up 63.5 NNP, highlighted by a spectacular single-handed return pass to Goal Shooter Jhaniele Fowler.
Their influence on the game saw Fever remain the only unbeaten team in Suncorp Super Netball after a thrilling 66-65 finish, sealed by Fowler who scored from a penalty on the final siren to secure the win in front of more than 4500 screaming green army fans.
Nissan Net Points are Suncorp Super Netball’s stats-based scoring system, run by Champion Data, that measures every player action on the court.
Points are allocated for every statistic and if players make mistakes or cause turnovers, they lose points. At the end of the game, each player receives an individual Nissan Net Points score, which represents their contribution to the match.
Fans can then vote each week on their individual ‘Game Changer’ from the Team of the Week for a chance to win weekly prizes.
