West Coast Fever will feature in four games at the 2022 Suncorp Team Girls Cup in Melbourne this weekend in an important pre-season hit-out against other SSN teams.
Coach Dan Ryan said that travel restrictions and the absence of key players due to international commitments had limited the team’s preparation time, but he was looking forward to the challenge ahead.
“We are excited to get out on court against the other SSN teams, which will be really important for us a month before the start of the season,” Ryan said.
“It’s definitely going to be a test after just four training sessions together as a full team but I’m really looking forward to my first game as West Coast Fever coach and seeing what the players can do on court together.”
“I encourage everyone to tune in and watch or attend games live if they’re in Melbourne. We’d love to see as much green as possible in the stands.”
With four games scheduled across the weekend, teams will compete with larger squads and have up to five players on the bench. West Coast Fever will include extended squad members Zoe Cransberg, Sloan Burton and Chelsea Pitman in their travelling party.
The event marks the first time the Suncorp Team Girls Cup has been played since 2019 and brings together all eight SSN teams to battle it out for the official pre-season silverware.
The competition is split into Pool A and Pool B, with matches to be played in a round-robin format with 10-minute quarters at Parkville Stadium.

Fever will start the pre-season competition on Friday against GIANTS before meeting their other Pool B opponents, Adelaide and Collingwood on Saturday.
