From competing in the Constellation Cup and Fast5 Netball matches and overseas holidays, the players are all spending their off-season wisely.
Courtney Bruce
With the Constellation Cup coming to Perth for the first time since 2015, many West Aussies were pleased to see a familiar face on the team, Fever’s very own star defender and captain, Courtney Bruce. Bruce played three of four matches for the Diamonds and was named Player of the Match following a superb game in the second test in Auckland, subduing Silver Ferns shooter Maria Folau.
Australia defeated New Zealand to claim the series in the fourth and final test in front of 13, 233 at RAC Arena in Perth.
Bruce jetted off to America for a well-deserved break.
Verity Charles
You may have heard a familiar voice at the Constellation Cup on Sunday, with centre-courter Verity Charles taking time out of her schedule to be MC for the day.
Jess Anstiss and Alice Teague-Neeld
Jess Anstiss and Alice Teague-Neeld were selected for the inaugural Netball Australian Development Squad earlier this month, spending time training at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra before heading over to Auckland to play against England Development and New Zealand Development. The group of up-and-coming players have been selected to help develop future Samsung Diamonds, with the 2022 Commonwealth Games and 2023 World Cup in mind. Anstiss continued her journey in New Zealand, exploring all the country has to offer with fellow Australian Development Team Member and Queensland Firebird Captain, Gabi Simpson. Teague-Neeld headed back to Perth after her stint in New Zealand to finish out the university semester.
Olivia Lewis
Olivia Lewis was busy attending the Jill McIntosh Medal as an alumni, after she took out the West Australian Netball League honour last season. Lewis watched on as West Coast Warriors shooter, Donnell Wallam, was crowned the 2019 Jill McIntosh Medallist.
